Are there some people who are just so ignorant, stupid and paranoid that you really hope they would just block you?

So you don't have to witness their utter stupidity and paranoia?

I am sometimes tempted to block, but I rarely do. If a person gets nasty in a personal way with me and just won’t leave it alone, then I will block or mute.

But for the most part, I don’t block or mute. I feel like I need to get an accurate picture of what kind of people are here.

I’m happy to say that most of the people I see frequently on SW are intelligent and pleasant. If they weren’t, I’d leave the site. (Of course, you can set your feed to friends and groups only, LOL!)

I had someone the other week who argued with me over my views on child actors (in response to a posted Keep Your Eyes Peeled query). No matter what I said, he insisted I was wrong. Finally he told me to stop being an idiot. I figured, takes one to know one, reported him, and left the subject.

Block them if they really, REALLY bother you. I had an unsolicited EMail from a disciplinarian (!) who said he was from Switzerland! Whether he was or not, I didn't try to find out. I just blocked and deleted him in a hurry.

@MaryJanine lol i get those all the time.. I prefer people to block me but if they are really hideous then I may do.. but it's very rare.

They usually get blocked by me FIRST.

Ditto for people who just wanna get ugly even if they have to reverse their views to accomplish it. BLOCKED for being gratuitously UGLY.

If I know I am in the right, I might argue the point. Then I get people who tell ME, the victim, to delete and block them and forget it. That's what I don't understand - I mean, if you know you're right and have the facts, wouldn't you prefer going elsewhere after you were informed correctly? I would. If someone else calls you on whatever, wouldn't you rather know what's right? Again, I would.

I just ignore the vast majority of them. I never blocked anyone, ever, until I met 2 individuals in this website though. Every single interaction has been so incredibly negative I felt compelled to do it.

I just remember usernames that are best to be avoided. For various reasons. If someone annoys me more than usual I block them first.

But seriously, they do say that those who are very stupid have no idea how stupid they are.. so they are protected from a lot of their negative impact.. it's everyone else that is driven mad.
