What do you think about when you say the word "I am an awesome person"?

For me

It is a positive thing to say.

I think about what an awesome liar I am!

@hunkalove I bet you are an awesome person in real life.

@SW-User Nah. Just a tired pitiful broken-down sad old man.

@hunkalove No one should feel like that. You are awesome and that is how I see you. I hope you can see it in yourself too.

Awesome feels like really overused hyperbole. To me, "awe" is something massive that should shake your very being and happen only once or twice or maybe never in your life. By using the word awesome to simply mean "quite good" we've lost the language to explain things that are truly awesome.

This is probably a cultural thing, though. I'm English and we tend towards understatement. I remember asking a friend about his wedding and he said, "Yeah. Not bad".

I think about how it's not one word.

@SW-User Reminds me of a quote:

“In baseball, there’s one word that says it all....and that one word is ‘You never know’!”
-Joaquin Andújar
(Andujar had the excuse of English not being his first language, but it is much like some Yogi Berra quotes)

Somebody tried to a positive thinking thing with me recently and she was telling me to say "I'm a star!" and "I can do it!" I felt so uncomfortable and ridiculous. I just don't believe that I'm an awesome person so it's kind of like saying "I can fly if I want to!" It's just untrue.
I never say those words about myself.

@SapphicHeart Neither do I (about myself, I mean). 😁
@DragonFruit
Gotcha. That's awesome. 😁

I tell myself that every day. It leads to positivity in my life.
