I'm not condoning anything but why be ringleaders of drug trafficking in a country where its illegal and execution is the penalty.

Sadly those people do take risks, the money they make out of drug trafficking appear to be a priority to them. The point was that those two ring leaders changed dramatically during their ten years incarceration,it was like a metamorphosis, they became people they would never have become had they not been jailed, they developed skills that under different circumstances they would never have known they possessed. It is one incredible case of rehabilitation. In this case mercy should have been shown, they could have done so much more in the rehabilitation of fellows inmates, there was so much potential there. But Indonesia chose to ignore all this not wanting to be told what to do by Australia....Now the latest is that those executions were unlawful.

I understand, but at same, while that is commendable, changing ways etc its a bit like those who 'turn to Christianity' which is good too but makes one wonder if its due to being incarcerated or just to avoid the consequences of their actions.
I wonder if a similar petition to get rif of the Islamic extemists would help, those pictures which circulated the internet showing women's throats cut, with bucketc collecting their blood and the father holding his headless baby, upset me greatly... thise are truly innocent people suffering greatly on others whims.
Also, the picture of 2 guys hanging from a crane...that is beyond words.
So, l wonder if a petition to rid the earth of this scum would do anything, but probably not, as this will continue, l suppose, like everything else does.

Sadly no petition can get rid of psychopaths and the religions behind which they hide and the religious views and beliefs they use to justify their actions. Those extremists which are mostly psychopathic make their own religious rules and no one it seems is the wiser, you only have to look at the spanish inquisition, the crusades, the death of thousand of South Americans and the destruction of their culture by the Spanish conquistadors in the name of their Christian religion,to realise that they made their own rules, when one of the commendments in their bible was "THY SHALL NOT KILL" The same goes with the Koran,I am sure it does not advocate mass murder of people who have a different religion and set of beliefs. Those extremists want total power and control. It it the same with most other religions or cults. No petition can stop that.No petition can stop evil. The only thing that can stop evil is a change in human consciousness and people waking up to themselves, but sadly I do not see this happening any time soon as the world priorities are NOT spiritual.
Yes, it is well known that some prisoners turn to religion to try to reduce their sentences and avoid the death penalty and the "getting of religion" seems a good cop out.But those two men were an exception as they truly and consistently helped other inmates, one by teaching art and orientating participating co inmates toward a positive outcome and the other giving consistent support and counselling and that to the last as it was reported that Andrew Chan gave moral support to the other condemned men as they were marched to their death all singing the hymn "amazing grace"and all refusing to wear a blindfold. No one pretending could have that kind of courage.

I still think laws should be obeyed but that you for your reply and l agree with the part about the world not being spiritual. It took me a while to understand that perhaps the evil in this wprld is meant to ne so that we all experience the duality of lova/hate, good/evil.
The evil is winning, though that's for sure, amd it does seem that now amount of praying helps, its actually what one does that matters.
If Mr Chan and is friend truly are sorry and their actions inside reflect this, l do hope they are at peace now.
The world sure needs mercy and love, that's for sure.
