I Was Judged....

Actually, I've just realised; I'm in both extremes......

I had my first daughter when I was 15 and my second daughter when I was 44...

With my first, I obviously had to go to school as well as care for her. Tough time. Tough juggling everything and yet coming out with all my O Levels (Yep, I am that old!). Parents would keep their children away from me...like you could catch pregnancy!

...and people would just generally look down on me.

It felt pretty isolating, to be honest, but I came through the other end with a lovely daughter who's also a parent now herself.

Yes it's hard. Yes it's tough...but we do what we do and look after our child...and all we ask for is a little respect...oh, and if you can be nice and offer help then that'll be wonderful too.

There was a family from my home town where every girl had their first kids at age 15. They had a five generation get together. There also was one boy that became a dad in fifth grade. The girl was sixteen.

@SammyJo it was kind of a badge of honor for them. The boy, not so much. His folks ended up raising the child. The mom died of a stroke a couple years afterwards.

@Tastyfrzz I guess it's like what my eldest daughter feels about whoring, in that respect.

So the grandparents raised the child as their own? I guess that was the only way for them...

@SammyJo the dad and his son are like brothers now.

[c=#666666]What was your experience of being 44 when having your second child? Were people judging you for that as well?[/c]

[c=#666666]@SammyJo Uh that sounds quite uncomfortable, but I expected that... sadly. Many people don’t like it when others do things out of “the norm” and those are boring people. I think it’s amazing that you were able to get pregnant in that age honestly. I hope to be capable of having children later in life, as now (I’m turning 29) is not a good time.[/c]

@Sheer Ah, you have plenty of time, luv....

Y'know what? It is what it is. At my age - and I think it's down to age - you get used to and bored by all that rubbish! What used to annoy me just doesn't anymore...

People judge....and it's water off a duck's back...

😘
