When assessing the quality of a person...

Is it better to assume the best about them or the worst? Do you subtract points (starting at 100) or do you reward points (starting from zero)?

I'm a cautious optimist. I start at 50 and either add or subtract.

I try not to assume either way and make judgements based entirely on what I can ascertain about them.
