I saw this on a door on a college campus and had to take a picture of it. This puts into words what I started feeling freshmen year of college. As one of the few black students people always tried to read some kind of racial connotation into all of my art pieces and I felt almost trapped into having to be a certain kind of artist. I realize now that don't have to apologize for not being defined by other peoples expectations of me.
I honestly feel the best way to stop people being concerned about race - is to stop asking. It doesn't matter, and to those that it does, they don't matter either.
