Men: if you had a girlfriend, would you still continue a friendship with your female friends?

I am a woman and my best friend is a man and I would dump any dude that would say we can't be friends. 20 year friendship is more important
Serenitree · F
@silentkillx2: I never ran into that problem with anyone. We had been friends since elementary school and never been anything more or less than best friends. If someone wanted me to dump him, it would be like wanting me to dump my parents. I would have known that was a doomed relationship. I've had two best friends since childhood. Both males. One is still living and we've been friends since we were 9. 63 years and counting. Never had any kind of physical relationship, and no thought of getting married, but nobody better ever expect me to dump my friends. That shows lack of trust, lack of faith, lack of love. I'd not marry anyone who displayed no trust.

If you were a lesbian, and got into a relationship, would you give up all the female friends you had for her?

[c=#BF0080] Obviously I'm not a dudeski but I think it depends on the friendship. Like there are a lot of different kinds. Friends is fine and can be healthy as long as neither of you care if the other does. i.e. - If you wanna keep your girlfriends, then you should be okay with your girl keeping her guyfriends as well. If it bugs you then perhaps better not. Depends on the couple. And friends is different then "friends with benefits" and such. But genuine friendship - Why not! Friends are great. People should be secure in themselves. If you have to worry about your guy acting inappropriately or you can't trust him and are jealous of him with his girl friends, you probably shouldn't be with him in the first place![/c]

I'm not a man, but I would hope that no one would dump friends because they got a girlfriend/boyfriend.

Unless your girlfriend is super controlling, then any man would. Females can be friends to straight guys, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm gay, so does that mean I can't hang out with other guys when I'm in a relationship?
Shutterbug · 56-60, M
Of course. Pretty narrow minded otherwise.

I was once close friends with a guy for two years... He abandoned me when he entered a relationship and... hasn't spoken to me in a year
Shutterbug · 56-60, M
That's not good. Maybe the friendship ran its course. It happens sadly.
JupiterDreams · 31-35
But it happened so abruptly. I don't think it ran its course... It's like, a week before he met her he told me how he wanted to keep in touch with me and be friends. :/
He did this a year earlier with another girlfriend... we had a fight and he cut me out for a few months until they broke up. :/

Yeah I don't just dump my friends because I'm seeing a girl on a regular basis. I don't hang out with them as much, naturally. But i don't cut them off. Sometimes they're invited to hang out or included in planned events. I mean who dumps friends for relative strangers?
TheStomachSadist · 26-30, M
@JupiterDreams: Wow. Not sure what that's about. Him or her, or both. I used to do stuff like that years ago when I was like 13. But at that age I had no idea how to manage emotions and infatuation, peer pressure, etc. Not an excuse but often when not knowing what to do, I did nothing then later was too embarrassed to face girls I just kinda stopped taking to. But that was then. To do something like that now would be nothing short of cowardice plain and simple. For me anyway. I'd really hate if someone did me that way. I actually did have that experience a few times. But again long ago. More reasons why that's not something I could do now.
JupiterDreams · 31-35
I dunno... I know he did want to... sleep with me at one point, so I thought maybe that made him feel awkward. But at the same time he told me he wanted to remain friends, before he met her. :/ He's 23, so I'd think he would know how to manage his feelings... :/

I'm sorry that happened.
TheStomachSadist · 26-30, M
@JupiterDreams: it was long ago. I learned and grew from it. Sorry you've experienced. Especially now. We all do dumb stuff as kids.
When I was young I used to erase all the ladies numbers out of my hubs phone and I even got mad and broke his phones a few times (those were the days of flip phones 🙄😒)
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
Wow, that's slightly mental.😋
Nobody asked you Nigel 😡
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
Geez, relax. :-)

I like to think so. I couldn't be relationshipy with someone who couldn't let me have opposite gender friends.
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
Hell yeah, why wouldn't it?
KeasbeyNights · 31-35, M
Of course I would.

No. I never do when I have a girlfriend. Maybe that's wrong. But truthfully I don't trust myself not to be tempted. I fuck most of my female friends.
wow smh

Yes. It comes and goes though. You never want to offend your wife or overstep your bounds.
Groofydorkgerdo · 51-55, M
Dang Skippy I would, why wouldn't I?
TheProphet · M
