Walk away from them. Sometimes there's no way to calm them...just stay away until they chill

Walk away and let them calm themselves. Don't try to get your point across, argue or get the last word. You will only make it worse.

Give them space and leave them alone until they cool it

In the immediate.....walk away and give them time. In the long range....perhaps some counseling or something to discover the reason for reacting to that kind of an extreme. There has to be a root cause for that severe of a response
