States mandating electoral college members votes has already been tossed by the appellate court. Electors have always been free to cast votes for whichever candidate they wish. They cannot be threatened with punishment for "unfaithful votes". States passing measures ordering electors to vote in a particular way has been declared unconstitutional.
To do away with the Electoral College they need to amend the constitution. Getting 2/3 of the states to ratify is out of reach. It isn't happening.

You touch the Constitution for any reason, and out you go for treason.

I think the pseudo intellectuals would be astonished at how quickly (and violently) the salt of the earth ("deplorable, idiots, and morons", as they call them) would react if they tried to enact such legislation.

The right wanted it gone under Obama, the left wants it gone under Trump. I say they’re both right
@Quetzalcoatlus I never heard of any conservative wanting to do away with the electoral college. Conservatives aren't prone to shooting themselves in the foot. (unless they are just nut jobs.)
