Is the logging industry good or bad for the world?

Why?
BlueVeins · 22-25
It can be good for the world when it's done in a sustainable way. A lot of firms regrow the trees they've cut down to give them a better return on investment and avoid cutting down entire forests at once. I don't know how prevalent these practices are though.

Well it would be a bit hard to build stuff without wood. So it is good. But trees do need to replanted

Good if the trees are replanted. It helps thin out the forests and helps the smaller trees grow.

As long as trees are replanted to replace the ones that have been taken down

Yes. It's a complicated question. It puts people to work, but it strips lands of needed cover of hillsides. It can open land to new growth, but it also causes under growth that needs to shade to die. And this in turn leave wildlife without food and shelter. Not to mention lowering the carbon to oxygen exchange.

I think it’s difficult to find an industry that isn’t bad for the world in some way or another but that doesn’t mean they should stop. Logging however needs to be done way more sustainably

Most things are ok in moderation. Capitalism is not great at moderating.
