I understand war is the last resort but sometimes places like Iran need a good snacking to change the way the people are treated in Iran

So they can have the freedom to wear a scarf or not so they can post a video of them dancing and not end up in prison

Culture is culture, beliefs are beliefs, if they disagree they should go where the culture suits them. "We" have no business telling "them" how they should live or what they should believe and "they" have no right to come here and tell "us" how we should live or what we should believe.

@OwnerOfMany And in the case of foreign nationals, their respective country can try to repatriate them without escalating war.

@OwnerOfMany I can't speak for the Americas only for me here but I absolutely in no way want to wipe out centuries of culture. Compared to its neighbour and the US' oppressive ally, Saudi Arabia, Iran is a place of millennia of civilisation and learning with a cultural inheritance that dwarfs that of the US.

But they also currently beat women for not covering their hair and have imprisoned a British citizen on essentially no grounds whatsoever (and never mind giving succour to Palestinian territorists who would have given up decades ago otherwise). Requiring them to stop these things isn't destroying Iranian culture.

Basically the British should lead any expedition. We actually have a long successful history of preserving and valuing a culture while preventing it's perverted abuses (I hardly think you'll find many Indians today who are upset that the British banned the burning alive of widows, for instance)

@Lhayezee I do not disagree. And just as general fyi, I am almost a half breed.

I don't disagree but since that's not the motivation for the US provoking Iran, and a war with Iran wouldn't achieve those goals unless they put about 750,000 soldiers on the ground for 25 years, it's a pretty stupid idea to try.

If it came to a set piece battle like a "formal" invasion of Iran, the US would probably win barely breaking a sweat (more difficult than Iraq but hardly so). But theyve never demonstrated an ability to either sufficiently oppress people, or make friends with them.

OTOH Iran's regime is pretty odious so...

I hope it happens that way @Lhayezee

I agree with that sentiment in a way but definitely don't feel it should be the US leading the barrage, especially right now.

Sometimes it has to be a western country to do this, but I know what you mean.@SW-User

Nothing says freedom like killing and destroying lives.

@Anonymouslyyours86 "The US" is not some faceless machine that can roll in and beat up on the bad guys. These are men and women, living breathing human beings just like you that you are asking to leave their homes and come and die fighting for something that does not concern them. They follow orders because they chose to fight for our country. But our politicians often basically rent us out like tools. In my opinion, if you are on the right side and you want help then you should pick up a rifle as well.

@Anonymouslyyours86 when has US involvement ever made anything better. You're Persian, you should know a lot better. Remember Mossadegh? Yeah, well he was removed and the oppressive Shah was put back thanks to US involvement. Look at Iraq and Afghanistan. Do you want Iran to be like that? Iran's regime sucks, but it's far better than the US ally that's Saudi Arabia. At least minority religions have rights. KSA it's illegal to even display a cross in public.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@Anonymouslyyours86 And think of the bombs and so on. There's people from Iran here I'm friends with, I don't want them to be murdered by a bomb. What about the rich cultural heritage? Do you want Tehran, Isfahan and Yazd reduced to rubble?
