No. I think more people need to be properly educated about what is and isn't good to put into our bodies, and what sodas and junk food actually contain and what these things do to us. Of course, one can always read the ingredients and do their own research too. But perhaps nutrition classes should be made part of the curriculum in high school.

But the bottom line always has to be personal responsibility. Without that, we will just end up handing over control over our lives to the government.

Ban socialism for that reason

Sure, ban them, fast food outlets, processed foods, salt, sugar, medications, alcohol, energy drinks and everything else deemed to be "unhealthy" for us.

It's almost as bad as our government taxing anything deemed to be "unhealthy" - the only thing that's going to change is that this food will be lifted out of the price range of the poorest members of society, who may well band together and grow their own meat just so that they can have something to put with their vegetables and bread.

I think the government needs to be more [i]out[/i] of our personal choices, including seat belt/helmet laws, drug prohibition, etc. If someone of legal age wants to make unwise choices for themselves and it only directly effects themselves then let Darwinism take effect.

Anyone who thinks government should ever regulate what it's legal or illegal to nourish or hydrate yourself with is a pinhead and that goes double for serving sizes it's legal to sell.

That’s incredibly short-sighted. I grew up as one of 8 siblings. We hardly ever bought anything for the house that wasn’t large size (including sodas)....which doesn’t mean that we drank them too much.
Besides, I don’t think banning a lot of things that aren’t used to hurt others is the way to go.
