How do people get addicted to alcoholic drinks?

Like they don't even taste sweet.
Idk I am unable to go beyond a few sips because they mostly taste bitter or fiery.

I think they get addicted to the feeling of being drunk more than the drink itself. That’s what it’s like for me anyways

@Effloresce Thought so.

As an alcoholic myself, I didn’t start drinking as often as I do because I like the way alcohol tastes, I did it to get drunk and give myself a temporary relief from reality. Alcohol has addictive properties in it too so there’s that.

It's a psychological thing...so far, you don't need to self medicate with a drug. We are not clones so...just because YOU don't get hooked...don't compare others to yourself. Your question is judgy

There is no accounting for taste. I fellow I know says that he has extreme difficulty staying away from booze because to him it is sweeter than candy. He absolutely loves the taste of it.

Acquired taste and then a genetic pre-disposition.
