Why are these called white grapes and not green grapes?

Rokasu · 36-40, M
Because there are white grapes?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Rokasu THANK you. I don't even like football and I've grown to hate Packers fans.
I semi-support the Baltimore Ravens though, because I'm an Edgar Allan Poe fan.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Either that, or maybe the color of when you cut open the grape. Cos the inside of a green grape is fairly white, I guess. And juice from purple or black grapes does make a purplish-red color.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick That could be it
SW-User
they are called green grapes
SW-User
@SW-User They're actually called white grapes (here in the US anyway)

@SW-User 😆 Too bad it's still purple!
SW-User
@SW-User white.
User41 · 36-40, M
Clearly the dress is gold... 😒
SW-User
@User41 😂 That shit is old
User41 · 36-40, M
🤷🏻‍♂️

So are grapes
SW-User
@User41 Hell naw
Reject · 26-30, M
I'm just appreciating the beauty of these gorgeous grapes.
SW-User
@Reject Open your mouth :P *throws a grape*
Reject · 26-30, M
@SW-User *tries to catch it with my mouth but ends up getting hit in the forehead* Oops. 😋
SW-User
@Reject 🤗 Awww
SW-User
Cuz they produce white juice
SW-User
@SW-User Ohhh now that makes sense. So that's why we have white wine. Hmmmm
SW-User
@SW-User lol yes
SW-User
@SW-User Gosh I'm a wine drinker myself. I should've known this sooner :P
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
I've wondered this myself many times
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
Wait! I just thought of something as I was reading some of the comments here...

Maybe the red, purple, black, and bluish grapes are all called red because they make red wines! And the green grapes make white wine!
SW-User
@sarabee1995 YESSSS! 😂 I just knew that myself too
Danez · M
Maybe they’d be offended if you called them green
SW-User
@Danez I'm sorry 😢 I'm greedy for grapes
Danez · M
@SW-User that’s ok. I’d do the same
SW-User
@Danez 😆
I feel like it has something to do with wine. Although, I’ve always called them green grapes, and have heard have them as green grapes.
SW-User
@Stark Girl I didn't know you were still on SW lol
@SW-User I didn’t know you were either 🤣. I hardly come on now though so that maybe why.
SW-User
@Stark Haha I just came back today to see what's new :P Apparently it hasn't changed one bit, except for this new function by which you can label your comment "Fetish" or "Sensitive" lol
LyricalOne · F
They’re called green grapes in my hood.
SW-User
@LyricalOne My hood's full of snobby people who call them white grapes :P lol
LyricalOne · F
@SW-User Grrrrrr....... snobby people. The ones who shop at Tar-jay.
SW-User
Byron8by7 · M
White grapes if they are used to make wine, green grapes if they are for eating.
SW-User
@Byron8by7 But aren't white grapes and green grapes the same thing?
Byron8by7 · M
@SW-User The green "table" grapes in the above photo are most likely Thompson Seedless grapes, which aren't usually used for wine. "White" grapes, which are an entirely different variety, but in a similar shade of green, are used for making white wine, such as Chardonnay.
SW-User
@Byron8by7 Oh wow I never noticed that
MellyMel22 · F
[c=#BF0080]If they were called green, would white wine be green wine 👀[/c]
SW-User
@MellyMel22 Naw 👀 It could just stay as white wine but made from green grapes lmao
MellyMel22 · F
@SW-User [c=#BF0080]That’s true 😌[/c]
SW-User
Well all I can reference my grapes, anyway, my grapes are white grapes not green!
SW-User
They look green to me 🤷🏻‍♂️
SW-User
@SW-User weird. Lol white grapes, is the juice "white"?
SW-User
@SW-User It kinda is lol
SW-User
@SW-User so there you go, white grapes 😄
Wishingwellguy · 46-50, M
I believe it’s because the flowers of the vine are white
SW-User
@Wishingwellguy Good point
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
Old story, lost in the mists of time
SW-User
@ozgirl512 I see
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@SW-User oops, I'll cover up lol
SW-User
BrattyMel · 31-35, F
I’ve only ever seen them called green except in juice
SW-User
@BrattyMel That's not the case where I live though 😮
Elegy · 46-50
Perhapse it refers to the juice they produce?
SW-User
@Elegy I think so
Called green grapes here
SW-User
@ThatGuyYouKnew Where do you live? 👀
@SW-User iowa
SW-User
Perhaps someone’s colour blind 🤔
SW-User
@SW-User Lol
SW-User
Lol @SW-User
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Probably because of pretentious wine makers.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick Lol possibly
Effloresce · 26-30, F
I’ve always called them green grapes
SW-User
@Effloresce Me too lmao. White grapes sounds odd when they're actually green
Someone was colour blind
