Understood. Trump is a lying piece of crap and has been since Day 1, but this has to be among his most disingenuous lies. His entire raison d’etre has been “fighting illegal immigrants”. It arguably helped him get into office. And the “zero tolerance” policy was [b]his[/b] and Jeff Sessions’ brainchild. So for him to bail out and try to pass the buck when it’s working the way they planned (as a [b]threat[/b] to people who’d cross the border) is pretty damned [b]cowardly[/b].

As another poster pointed out, the previous president [b]did[/b] follow immigration law, although oddly enough conservatives [b]never[/b] give him credit for it, and people were deported, per existing laws. But no one’s children were taken away, although some opted to leave children born here with family.

The rationalization for this policy (it's needed) plus the denial such a policy exists (Homeland Security Secretary), combined with the notion that it's the Dem's fault is a level of absurdity and paradox I didn't think possible.
