How do you tell if someone is a true friend?

One can really only know a true friend when the friendship has stood the test of time. When a person stands by you, forgives you, loves you even when you've hurt them...when they've seen you at your worst, over and over again, yet they continue to see the best in you...when they tell you you're making a huge mistake and fight with you about it because they don't want to see you get hurt...but they walk through the pain with you if you make the wrong choice...all these things are the mark of a true friend.
