How should I approach this girl?

There is this girl that lives about an hour away from me, I live in a very small town with very few women my age. We have a lot of mutual friends, and I have messaged her once on instagram (casually replying to her story) but have never met in person, what should be my next step?

Message her on instagram and chat. See how she reacts. She’s way more likely to hang out if you make friends with her first.

If it’s someone you would actually make an effort to drive for then try talking more. Do the same thing you’ve done but keep the conversation going, if you see she’s engaged in the conversation say something like “you seem like a nice girl, would you like to hang out sometimes?” I liked when someone was just straight and to the point

You can either keep messaging her on instagram (which will get you nowhere), or you can try stalking her at an event that she's attending (unless you know her personally, this is a bad idea).

I'm going to be honest, I don't think you have a great shot. Then again, some have worked wonders with less.
