Hey thank for BA. I love the older minis. My gfs nannie had one in red and she sold for a small fortune then immediately regretted it. If I could afford to buy one I really would 馃槬
@Gangstress 1968 was well before you were born, Gangstress, that's why you can't put a finger on it. But I was 6 years old then and it was the most eventful year in my childhood. I've been putting several fingers on it ever since. Lol :)

That original one - oh yes. Collector's Piece now. The ISO-approved "Euro-jellymould" travesty BMW makes might be assembled to a high standard and is more luxurious than the genuine Mini, but only shows their designers never had the imagination of Alec Issigonis, and don't now. Probably doesn't fit an ordinary domestic garage either, as the proper one would.

Sure, why not, in there is a lot more space as expected.
In 1964 I purchased my first car. I so wanted a Mini, but it was priced too high for my Budget! They were the first successful front engine, front wheel drive with cross axis engine. The drive was a little rough by US standards, but their rack and pinion steering was a good match against the newly introduced "power steering." I never did get my mini, but the front wheel drive became just about an industry standard.
