I Want to Know Your Marriage Proposal Story

Sunday 12/3/17

Do we all get marriage proposals online? Is that normal? I guess to me it seems to be. I am not looking for them but they happen.

Sunday I get a message from a stranger. Apparently he saw my picture on social media. He said hello and how was I? I replied and said fine thank you, "do I know you?" He had sent another message so I was not sure whether he got my question.

Life went on and as I do here, I got busy and did not get back to my messages.

Last night, he sends me another and this time, he is calling me angel. ahhh he doesn't know me. Then he asked me to marry him. I said to him, you do not know me.

I must be clueless on these things because I am sure many will give me many reasons for why this happens. I know I do not take them serious but it does make me curious on who does this and the motives behind them.

If I wanted to count how many times this has happened to me, I could not.

A few months ago, when I signed up on a dating site for two weeks, everyday I got a marriage proposal and sometimes two. Oddly, I never said anything much. I got off that dating site quickly.

Scammers have software that scans dating sites and social media sites (and SW is one of those sites). At some point, you will discover that "he" is an American engineer, on a long term assignment in West Africa. He really wants to see you, he's falling madly in love with you. He may send you flowers, balloons, etc., but something bad happens. He either get robbed, his bank made an error, or something of that nature, and he needs you to wire money to him, so he can be with you for the holidays.

The male version of this is a nurse, from the US (or some sort of mom/dad American, but I am finishing my nursing degree in Africa, and I love you so much, but my bank made a mistake, I got robbed, I had a ticket and was lost....).

Hit the delete button and report it as a scam/spam.
@Northwest Laughing! Thanks! Oh I know. Believe me. I know it's not sincere. Like who falls in love with one pic? I think they are cons. It's interesting. I will ask all kinds of questions and then they go away. LOL

@LoveYouLoveMe Unfortunately, enough people fall for this sort of stuff, otherwise, these scammers would not still be in business.
@Northwest I said that this morning. They must pick a few women and just shoot something out and one will take the bait.

My wife and I both worked at Walmart when we met back in 2005. I actually proposed to her over the store's speaker in front of customers, staff, and all. She was so surprised, they had to coax her to give me an answer. When she said yes...everyone applauded.
