I Believe Long Distance Relationship Can Work

Contrary to the belief, it won't.

LDR has timeframe.
Meet in 6 months after romance develops and it may prosper but when anyone involved procrastinates, it can't last.

Hey, you cannot be in LDR for so long. Crazy.

That's true. After a while the long distance becomes unbearable.

@SweetMae a dreamer's dream that can take forever

@1Dogma True.

I have to throw cold water on this idea..
LDR's "can" work.. for what they are and what they serve, and also as a prelude to more.
I was in a Long Distance Relationship for 2 years that grew and flourished into me waiting for her to retire and move in with me.
She lived 600 miles away and I could only afford to drive there once a month to stay with her for 3 or 4 day weekends.. We had only chatted on EP and later, here on SW before we decided to meet face-to-face for a motel weekend date. Sparks flew and I decided that she was worth the wait until she could shed her job (24/7 live-in caregiver). She was already taking every other weekend off to relax and rejuvenate. I helped her to relax better than being by herself (ha ha)...
She visited my home ONCE for a ThanksGiving holiday and got convinced that I was not a serial killer or something laying a trap for yer (ha ha).. She began making plans to retire and moved in with me the beginning of that year...

We're a living testament to the fact that LDR's "can" work out. I've been worshiping her while I live with her for over 2 yrs now, and our devotion is still growing..

@polyandrym66 lol. I'm not into gambling neither fishing. But I take that as a sage advice.
polyandrym6670-79, M
@1Dogma Thanks for having an open mind..
"SAGE ADVICE" ... Now I DO feel old... ha ha
1DogmaF
@polyandrym66 well, you're older than me...hahaha.
Sure it can ... kindle that intensity... and desire alone will drive you together again.

Not for all people though
1DogmaF
@questionWeaver maybe but how frequently?
Most need fluidity to continue the spontaneiety.
@1Dogma

Good points ... the more intense and enjoyable the sex ... the more you seek to get together ... and the more tolerant you are, if delayed.

It is a very interesting dynamic

Very interesting
1DogmaF
@questionWeaver Well, your interest could have made wonders.

It works, if a plan is set in place to close the distance in the (preferably) near future. My experience with it is a success, for example. LDR for about two years, now we live together; he's from England and I'm in Australia. I don't think LDR's are for everyone, and sometimes I'm still surprised it's worked out for me, but it has so I can say it's rare but it happens.
maybesomeday26-30, F
@1Dogma My partner moved from England to Australia; we felt my country would offer a better lifestyle for us in the long run.
1DogmaF
@maybesomeday I'm happy for you both! 馃

@maybesomeday So glad to hear about another LDR ending happily also..
Good luck and much happiness..

LDR can and do work. Even ones that have been a long time...it's all in the mindset of the two people involved...yes, at some point, one party will have to relocate.
1DogmaF
@SW-User now that's patience paving the way to the road of forever. Your experience is 1 in a million.
SW-User
@1Dogma and what's funny...I don't have much patience for waiting at all! If I had to do it over again...with him...I would.
1DogmaF
@SW-User Awww...the power of love can drive us crazy right? But you earned the fruit of your labor. Good things happen to those who wait. Truly, patience is a virtue.
SW-User
I guess that explains all your cheating on me 馃槖. 馃お
SW-User

Been there done that, it was good while it lasted but we had our own plans career wise and werent willing to hold each other back for it so we broke up.
1DogmaF
@DrSunnyTheSkeptic life's a bitch sometimes. Sorry.
PhoenixPhailM
Long distance relationships have never worked for me. I need the physical presence of that person with me, and physical contact is vital.
1DogmaF
@PhoenixPhail True. We can't live in dreamland with every key strokes.
SW-User
ldr worked for me. you need to be a dedicated person.
1DogmaF
@SW-User dedication is a problem to some. Congrats. So you're together now?
SW-User
@1Dogma yeah, we've been together for 5 years. have a child together
1DogmaF
@SW-User WOW...fruitful life!
