My 11 and 8 year olds both know that sperm is the reason women get pregnant.
Of course the 8 year old doesn’t know how the Sperm comes out lol 😂 but still he knows what it is and what it’s purpose is lol 😂

@Fernie my first thought was that Indiana Republican that failed in a Senate run in 2012, I must admit, the clown that insisted when raped the womans body shut down and prevented pregnancy, so if she got pregnant it was her choice

@firefall Yeah I was pondering whether to point out people may be laughing now, but Todd Akin was the previous prominent supporter of that thoughtprocess. Though he apologized profusedly at the time (but it still most likely cost him his Senate seat), in his book he later recanted that apology and supported what he said. Though to be fair, what he said was one offensive litany, including that he supported "some punishment" on the rapist, making it dismissive.

I think that the idea that women only get pregnant if they want to is actually somewhat more widespread, and (without intending to open a can of worms) with birth control it's an easy idea to get.

Maybe he could also mean she could use the "Day After Pill" ,or provide her own contraceptive as the young lady implied (some females are wise enough to protect themselves that way now days )but many people in the heat of the moment throw caution to the wind ,(proven by unwanted pregnancy and STD's),many also think "pulling out works too ,or condoms and or, birth control is 100% effective ,some are unaware use of Antibiotics can make birth control useless .
I actually seen a judge one time take a coke bottle and a pencil and he kept moving the bottle as his example so the pencil could not be inserted in the neck and said women can stop rape ,all they need to do it keep moving the target ,I hope no one ever rapes his daughter or wife ,it would suck having to eat those words ,
This is why I try not to speculate and tried to teach my kids not to do it .
and I also went into my Lewis Black impersonations as a reason why .
Lewis Black used that line "Were it not for my horse " over 30 yrs ago when he first came on the comedy scene and I loved what he said I have used it many times over the years to people who make "Stupid Stupid" comments where others can over hear them ,,and I make sure someone hears it too

I also try to keep my nose out of other peoples conversations too ,like the little lady pointed out, things are not always as they seem ,especially when you only hear one side (so again I refer back to Lewis Blacks joke ),
but,
It also sucks in todays society we talk about such crap in public ,and people on cells seem to like others hearing their conversations ,we have turned into a society that feeds on gossip and lies ,and as many now days seem to believe ,if you tell a lie enough times ,and you keep defending it ,somehow it turns into truth or at least we give it the shadow of a doubt .
and as others keep repeating it ,somehow it gains credibility ,I could give many real good examples but I am actually saying all this to keep it on the humerus side ,and not launch a serious debate ,especially since we are speculating .
I personally love truth ,even if sometimes I may not like it at first ,,,
My Daughter taught me a phrase I love ,and now I use it often too
You can educate the ignorant ,but you can't fix stupid ,stupid people prefer to be ignorant and no amount of reason can fix that .
Even this post ,a lot of lessons can be learned from it ,
just don't try to figure it out
