Early Morning
early morning and the sun’s not yet up
it’s still dark in the sky
but the red numbers on my clock say
soon I’ll ring I do not lie
warm under the blankets I open my eyes
I feel you laying next to me
your breathing quiet breaths
and I remember last night together
how we touched and explored
how each sensation took us to higher places
our anticipation could not stand up
to the reality of proclamation
all my dreams, wants and desire
were fully met in unbelievable fashion
dare I ask you the same question
though I know the answer as you lay next to me with sweet exhaustion
it’s still dark in the sky
but the red numbers on my clock say
soon I’ll ring I do not lie
warm under the blankets I open my eyes
I feel you laying next to me
your breathing quiet breaths
and I remember last night together
how we touched and explored
how each sensation took us to higher places
our anticipation could not stand up
to the reality of proclamation
all my dreams, wants and desire
were fully met in unbelievable fashion
dare I ask you the same question
though I know the answer as you lay next to me with sweet exhaustion
