I Am Worried About My Health

I have a 1/4" cyst in the left side of my brain, I have juvenile osteoporosis which has resulted in 7 badly compressed vertebrae and severe kaiphosis. Canada's "free" health care was happy to diagnose but there is no coverage for any of my prescriptions. The cheapest apartments cost me my entire income so not only do I suffer pain and mobility problems but I can barely afford to eat at all, let alone utilize a bone "savvy" diet. I had such a terrible migraine all night because my spine got overworked the last few days. I have no helpers and cannot afford any.

You do know that pharmaceutical companies offer drug assistance plans if you can not afford your medications.
@MarmeeMarch it works different in Canada.
@Anonymartyr I thought Canada meds were cheaper than US meds.
@MarmeeMarch how can they be when most our meds are shipped to Canada from US pharma companies. Our free heathcare covers emergency and hospital stays ( but not ambulances) it covers most common medications and some specialized medication. My daily injection would cost me $2200 American for a 28 day supply. Our government will not cover that. My better alternative is marijuana, but that is not covered either.
@Anonymartyr Maybe some meds are more.. But we here all the time about Canada is the place for cheap meds. They even have online stores.
@MarmeeMarch rent and utilities take all my disability pension. After a monthly trip to the foodbank I have to beg for food money. There are a thousand more like me in this city alone. What you hear is exaggerated. Do you know how much tax we pay on most products we buy? Most of these are also imported products from the US. And usually our money is worth about 25c/dollar weaker than the US dollar.
@Anonymartyr Yes - poverty in the USA too I guess diff countries focus on certain things.
@MarmeeMarch if I were a lawyer with a history of cardio disease, or a drug addict then my meds would be free.
@Anonymartyr If I was a mental patient my insurance would cover that 100% If I was preggo -same - however a health screening (that the new name for a physical) is free but if you mention ONE extra problem to the doctor they charge you for an office visit. Lucky I am getting batter insurance but the one I had --you had to meet a 6500 deductible then you are 100% covered. So with that horrible insurance that I had you better be really sick to benifit - I am talking major major long hospital ICU stay --- or not sick at all ------no in between.
@MarmeeMarch thats right too. But I have a nurse practitioner whose paid differently so I can discuss all my health problems at once.
I am on the worst part of the middle. Long life expectancy but very early paralysis and no family as yet- so Ill need complete care right down to diaper change probably from my early to mid 60's
@Anonymartyr yea, I hope you do plan for the future but also have a good life now -
@MarmeeMarch I try my best to live well/happy even with jusy myself and a cat. But I will take risks if I see a reasonable possibilty of honest personal advancement. Too bad I cant sit through post secondary classes, I think I have the makings of a hreat teacher.
@MarmeeMarch Not applicable outside of the USA

@Anonymartyr Have you written to the manufactures of the medicine that you need, some will help you out, it is definately worth a try.
@MarmeeMarch My caseworkers and endocrinologist have already tried that. I can't even afford shelter without hidden subsidy programs which will expire in two years, then I am back on the street, permanently.
@Anonymartyr are you from Canada ?
@MarmeeMarch Yes, Ontario Canada.
@Anonymartyr Oh - I dont know what social programs the have = I think there is someone on here that does cause he has problems too - are you that guy ? did you change your avatar ?
@MarmeeMarch I have the same manual that the government has. There is nothing available mainly because I am younger than 65.
@Anonymartyr any thoughts of moving to the USA ? I know you need money for that - just a thought
@MarmeeMarch I cannot travel, I cannot even ride the buses in the city. The ambulance has to put me on a backboard with neck brace every time they take me to the hospital for anything.
@Anonymartyr Well God is something nobody can take away from you....
