Scientists often refuse to believe each other, and will argue with one another till the crack of doom. I have also heard it said that many scientists, like sheep, are fearful of supporting evidence that appears to rock the boat or upset the status quo.

So many of them are dependent on grants for their research from various universities...they will not wish to seem to rebel against the herd.

However, I will say this...the Chinese virologist who published this paper has had severe personal consequences for writing it. Her mother has been arrested. One would not think she would publish these things lightly.

@4meAndyou Yes, I agree with you. But if her findings were correct, a committee of scientists under a government(like US/Trump) would have considered it more seriously without any bias. And that would have reflected in election campaign.

@ABCDEF7 Although that is also true, we can't openly admit what we all know. Once there is definitive proof that the virus originated in Wuhan, 3 miles from a bioweapons research facility, we will probably not make any of that official.

Both political parties here want trade with China. Trump wants it, Biden wants MORE of it.

@4meAndyou Yes, that's sensible. It's not practical for any government under current scenario to completely cut-off trade with China until they develop backup infrastructure to support the needs of their economy.
