I Sometimes Wonder What the Hell Is Wrong With People

I've never agreed with the idea most people have that people just don't want to work anymore. I've always seen that as employees reacting to the idea most companies have that everybody is disposable and the fact that most companies are never satisfied with anything, but lately I've encountered a good many people who truly don't want to work in any circumstances. I have a coworker, and have had others in the past, who won't do anything they don't want to do but will try to shove it off on someone else if they can get by with it. It's like they think it's not their job if someone else is around to do it for them. For example, I'm a cashier and a girl who works with me refuses to process a check. She always calls me to do it for her and refuses to do it even though I point out I showed her how to do it. I asked her what would she do if I wasn't around and she said, "have someone else do it for me." That and she expects me to pick up after myself but tries to get me to pick up after her (which I won't do). Another coworker had to be firm with her to check the dressing rooms one day when she kept saying she didn't want to do it. In all fairness she's not totally lazy. She'll run the cash register without any problem and sort clothes to hang.

She must have some sort of anxiety about making a mistake with processing the check or something, but whatever it is she needs to get over it and do it herself now that she's been shown a few times. There's kind of a similar situation I deal with at work, involving the printer. Apparently only the graphic designer(me) is able to operate the printer to print shit. No one else can do it themselves even though there's default settings I created.

Maybe she has a learning disability and can't wrap her mind around processing a check....I couldn't balance a cash float I always had to get someone else to do it. Because I couldn't grasp it no matter how many times I was shown.

@saintsong I can understand that. I have a learning disability myself. But that doesn't excuse her attitude of "If I don't want to do it then someone else needs to do it for me" attitude she seems to have about a lot of things. And it's not just about her. The rant is about people in general thinking they shouldn't have to do anything they don't want to. She was partly just an example.

I call it just being lazy
