What is wrong with Dr. Seuss that they have banned his books?

I've never been a fan but I've never seen anything wrong with his stuff.

Some really racist illustrations

@Pfuzylogic In the 2nd one I guess he was making fun of Orientals, at least I'm guessing. I don't see anything wrong with the 1st one. They are just monkeys.
Pfuzylogic · M
@Cloud7593
The first one is making fun of “savages” or Africans. Typical racist humor of black persons that has no real positive growth for anyone.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic sounds like someone is projecting their racism on a totally fabricated world where race nor species or even gender exist. 🧐
Pfuzylogic · M
@DeluxedEdition
What makes you think it is projection?
Those are cannibals and it was a very degrading depiction of the black persons unless you have some real insight to share. 😉
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic the reason i say it is projection is the basis of the world being totally fabricated to which there is no such thing as perceived race, gender or even species. the fact that someone could actually go as far as calling a fictitious world racist is very telling 👀

@DeluxedEdition
A fictitious world doesn’t separate it from the current attitudes that the author experiences. The trouble is that he is an empowered white man that did have very progressive attitudes of equality, he took the liberty to depict another culture with zero empathy and made them a subject of scornful humor. Just because you are progressive doesn’t mean you won’t slip and his organization addressed to obvious. It isn’t funny anymore.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic there's nothing to laugh at. it's fictitious. and the fact that someone would equate a fictitious world with a concept such as racism speaks more volumes on whoever is choosing to see a racist fictitious world than the actual perceived racism itself. who are you to say it's racist? you didnt know dr suess personally. you don't know how his mind operates.

@DeluxedEdition
Again just because it is fiction doesn’t mean it isn’t racism. I am trying to follow your logic and it doesn’t follow through on how his depiction of “savages” isn’t harmful. You don’t know the pain unless you are on the receiving side of the laughs and no one cares if you are laughing with them or not. The victim just becomes an object of ridicule with no sympathy.
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
@Pfuzylogic you just gotta let some things go. But I’ve been trying to not look at everything as if it is racist. It really affects my mental health when I do. And besides, I don’t associate monkeys or savages with African people , anyone who does is the real racist
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@TurtlePink that is exactly what I am trying to say. respectfully
Pfuzylogic · M
@DeluxedEdition
She doesn’t make anything you said correct.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic ditto to you as well considering both of our arguments are technically opinions 🤔
Pfuzylogic · M
@DeluxedEdition
I am very comfortable in defending the estate that makes decisions on terminating some of his illustrations and books . You are the contrarian here.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic with all due respect the times back then were also very different from how they are now and yes, I am. considering I feel it's ultimately unproductive banning all of these things because of the way someone chooses to perceive something.
Pfuzylogic · M
@DeluxedEdition
You are allowed your opinion right or wrong. I sharing the illustrations they gave as an example of racism in the news which makes total sense. You are of a different politic. I can’t stand trump and his ideology.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic we aren't even talking about trump or politics😑. is the illustration the one that is presented earlier in this thread?
Pfuzylogic · M
@DeluxedEdition
This is very much politics.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic i never saw it that way but actually you're right. The Left has made it very much so about politics and it's very clear to me now.
Pfuzylogic · M
@DeluxedEdition
The illustrations are pure racism for fiction. They are being terminated for the right reasons. I hope some day you will see that clearly.
