I Am Romani

I'm half Romani on my fathers side, when I was young it was always something I hid as a source of shame, here in Uk there is still a lot of racism levelled at Roma, and "pikey" was thrown around a lot in the playground.
As I've gotten older, and have began to care a little less about what people think it's something I'm more open about, though to be honest my heritage isn't really something I give that much thought about in day to day life.
Strangely a few people have Correctly guessed my heritage from the way I look, so I must have some noticeable characteristics.

The Romanians I have met have all been employed hard workers. Perhaps if British people worked harder there would be less of an opening for foreigners and therefore less reasons for racism.

True enough, there has been quite a nasty nationalistic streak showing though the UK lately, I think it has quite a few people worried.

@Arcade: It is warrented miss directed rage. If past governments and leaders had led instead of sitting on their fat arses collecting expenses; then we wouldn't have the openings for foreigners to exploit. Unfortunately the common thick man doesn't understand that. He just sees some foreigner doluting his culture and getting a job he van't be bothered to do.
