I Dont Get It

"Hey"

Online tends to eventually lead to the question "so what do you want to talk about?"

Well, my random buddy, you contacted me; not the other way around. I don't know you and didn't have anything to say to you. That's why I didn't start a conversation. If you have something to say, go for it. I might listen and contribute to conversation (I am capable of that). But I'm not interested in talking to people who do this. It makes no sense to me. What do you want? Because I've got nothing for you.

ha ha... omg! I hate that so much! I probably get a dozen "hey" and "hi" messages a day and every one of them gets immediately trashed. Imagine you're at a bar and some guy walks up, stands in front of you and just says "hey". CREEEEEEEEPY!!!!!!

Yes, then the "so what do you want to talk about?" Didn't you have anything in mind when you messaged me? Ohhhh... it must be because I mentioned right away I think role playing and cybersex is stupid. Suddenly, you have nothing to talk about!

The whole asking me what I want to talk about when they initiate the conversation drives me bananas lol

@lilcountrygrl The funny thing is that in bars, "hey" tends to be fine. They don't walk up to me, say hey, and then ask what I want to talk about. They have something to say to follow the greeting. It's just people online who don't seem to know what ought to follow "hey."

@SW-User like” hey, i read your post about XyZ and i really like what you had to say” might be a good start.

i don’t answer personal messages. people are usually rude then they block you for calling them out on it lol. forget it

I don't anymore these days either. I just delete the messages without opening them. I logged on earlier, though, and saw a few more than usual, all with the same nothing-to-say. @NiftyWhite

@SW-User ya or i hate when it’s a generic message like “you seem interesting” or “wow i really like your profile” - if you don’t answer then a few months later u get the same message from the same person. lol i block them if it happens twice.

“Hey” is an automatic delete. I’m not willing to the line of the convo when obviously conversation skills are lacking. Delete, move on.

Saying “Hey” to someone online is like poking them with a stick. It’s fucking annoying.
