Sounds like here....the police can seize cars if they find a certain amount of drugs and are found guilty they can keep them or sell them. Sometimes they use them for speed trap cars etc.

@cherokeepatti If a driver is clocked at 45 km (28 miles) over the speed limit the car will be impounded for 28 days.
Two offences within two years, car confiscated and crushed

@Gusman wow they are serious about speeders aren’t they?

@cherokeepatti Simply a show of force from a Police Department who are despised by a large percentage of the population.
Big money spinner as well.
Each impounded car costs about AU$900 - US$700, to release from pound.
About 15,000 cars are impounded each year in my state alone.
Worth $13 Million - US$10 Million

@Gusman the police departments profit from the seizures so they want to do more, they will sell the ones that their department doesn’t need at auto auctions. I know a car dealer who bought some cars from an auction and he has his mechanic go over everything in the cars. Found 2 bricks of cocaine in the panels inside the cars. He was angry about it and called the Oklahoma state police and told them to come to his business and pick up the cocaine bricks they missed from the car that was sold to him. Could have ruined whoever bought it’s life if he hadn’t had his mechanic check so thoroughly inside the door panels etc. All it would have took is to get pulled over by the police & have a drug sniffing dog hit on it and whoever drove the car would have gotten sent up to prison for a long tim for drug trafficking.

@cherokeepatti Yep. I have no respect for police officers.
Seems there are more crooked cops now than ever.
I was at a friends place one day, he had a previous record of growing illegal Pot.
The Police arrived and searched his house.
They found a jar with $2000 in it. They took the money and he was never charged with anything.
They pocketed the money.

@Gusman some of them do that here too but we need them or there would be chaos and the criminals would have a field day. Our mayor & city council cut the budget and eliminated 8 officers and the crime rate has risen a lot especially violent crimes in the past year. Domestic violence calls doubled and more assaults and home burglaries etc.
