Micro-drama

I ordered seeds from two different places way back in - April? March? The seeds were supposed to grow into either colored bamboo (red, blue, yellow, purple) or spiral grass.

Today one small package arrived containing three small plastic envelopes of seeds. The sender's name does not describe either of the vendors I purchased from.

The outside of the package listed the contents as "one stud earring" on each of three lines of print.

My question is, have I received contraband? Should I call this to anyone's attention and if so, whose?

Oh, and one vendor sells through Amazon and the other through dodobest...

Likely both kinds of seed come from China.

@Mamapolo2016 It's a "thing" currently, all sorts of people most of whom haven't ordered seeds are getting these seeds from China, we've had it here too. Official advice is don't plant them, chuck them in case it's an invasive species but I'd be tempted to put em in a pot and see what pops up.
@AntisocialTroll I think I'll give it up for a bad job. In my life, planting and nurturing the little darlings might result in a talking plant that shrieks "Feed me, Seymour."

@Mamapolo2016 😂 Which is exactly why I'd be tempted to grow em...

I heard about this. It really doesn't surprise me that a pack of these infamous mystery seeds found their way to you.
@SwampFlower 😂😂😂😢

Me either. Marked stud earrings. I don't even know any studs.

@Mamapolo2016 And especially none who wear earrings 😒

It’s fine. They are just normal, run of the mill, plants and herbs. You may want to call your local dep of agriculture about them though

@MalteseFalconPunch I promise I won't plant the seeds. Not even indoors.

Do not open seeds from China it's a thing

Had heard of this happening some days ago. Did a quick Google search (search for "seeds from china"). Quoting one of the top results:
The USDA said if you receive the packets of seeds, do not plant them and contact your state plant regulatory official.
@PirateMonkeyCabinet Thank you! That helps!

@Mamapolo2016 You're welcome! Hopefully it'll turn out to be harmless seeds as seems to be reported with most cases of this so far.
@PirateMonkeyCabinet Mildly amazing. I actually found the right agency and they actually answered the phone.

I hope nobody knocks and says, "We're from the government and we're here to help."
