I Am a Caregiver

This one is nasty, you’ve been warned. 🤢

My great grandfather was eating dinner, we special prepare his meals so it’s usually only one serving.
I’m assuming a noodle got stuck in his throat. So he starts gagging, and then starts vomiting. Into his food. Long gooey strands of mucus mostly. Again, into his food.
He insists he’s fine, I gave him a bucket and asked what he wanted me to make instead. He asked for a minute.
I gave him the time he needed to sort that out.
Then he tells me his food is fine. AND CONTINUES TO EAT IT! The very same food he just puked in. So I insist, please for the love of god let me make you something else.
Nope. Then he eats it with his fingers.
There something wrong with your fork?
No, it’s just easier this way.
Did I mention he was touching his vomit with said fingers? Oh god. 🤢 🤮 Send help.

He’s of sound mind. I can’t force him to do anything. But that was so gross I couldn’t be in the same room without gagging. And I have a high threshold there.

That must have been horrible for you to watch. There really are few things worse that the feeling of being helpless while watching someone do something like that and knowing that it would only make things worse if you do what you feel you need to.
