I Want To Get My Confidence Back

[c=#7700B2]sorry in advance for the long read.

So I have been on Similar Worlds now for several years since it's first week of opening and when I first joined this place I had zero confidence and I mean zero confidence. I hated myself and everything about me and I would often always joke about myself and put myself down constantly in a attempt to do it before anyone else could.
I thought people would be making fun of me and calling me all sorts of things that I would constantly think about myself and yet none of that ever happened.

I hardly ever said my opinion on controversial subjects as I didn't want to annoy anyone and just wanted everyone to like me. Turns out that just truly being myself here has made me gain some of the best friends on this site that I never could have imagined gaining when I first joined.

I hid behind profile pics of cartoons or whatever else for a long while till I started to finally get a bit brave and started showing myself more and more and that started with just showing my eyes till what you see today.

I know a lot of people say this place is not supportive at all but I strongly disagree because without the help of this place I don't think I would be where I am today..

So a huge big thank you to everyone who has shown me nothing but kindness even if I have said my views on things that you do not agree with. It means the world to me.

Here is a repost of a pic I posted a little while back. When I joined here I never thought I would ever have the confidence to post my face let alone a full body photo (granted I really like this photo, so it makes it easier for me). And yes some people say I show photos for attention, lol yes it is obvious and im not hiding that fact. Getting attention can at the best of times be truly horrifying to me, so in a way it is kind of therapeutic like facing my fears.

I have been in therapy since I was 10 years old and in 16 years the one of the things that I feel has helped me the most is the site and opening myself up more and more, and so many of you wonderful amazing people [/c]

I know this is an old post now but it’s the first time I’ve seen it. Funny how posts come back around again!
I’ve mentioned before how I like reading your honesty on here. I’m not talking about your personal views when I say that but I also like that you’re not afraid to air them whether people agree or not. What I am talking about is your honesty about yourself and how open you are with it.
It’s great for you and you view it as therapeutic but it’s also great for anyone who may be struggling and for them maybe seeing someone else who is or has come through a similar journey to themselves could be very helpful!
Anyway this wasn’t meant to be as long winded! Just wanted to say I always like to read your posts like this and you’re definitely one of my favourite people to read on here.
Awesome pic too. You look stunning as always.

@IrishPat [c=#7700B2]aww thank you. It is funny how old posts just out of no where start up again. I write so much on here that I tend to forget a lot of the stuff I post, so its always like reading it for the first time again for me lol.
I am glad you like my threads and me opening up about myself here. I don't really do that in person, so this site is kinda therapeutic for me as I can get what I am feeling down here and not feel like I am keeping it all bottled up.[/c]

When you forget your own posts it’s like you’re entertaining yourself when you see them again.
I think lots of people use it therapeutically. Although the site is used for all sorts of different reasons 😅@PlumBerries

[c=#7700B2]yeah that is it, well when I am not making myself cringe with stuff I wrote in the past anyway lol[/c]
IrishPat · M
@PlumBerries haha! Ah I wouldnt worry about that! I’ve not read anything cringe so far and there would be something wrong if we didn’t make ourselves cringe every now and again. We’ll always be our own worst critics 😊

[c=#7700B2]that's true and I am glad you don't find me cringy haha[/c]

@PlumBerries of course not! Don’t be silly
