The one puzzle beyond Stephen Hawking

One of the greatest thinkers of all time has left us. Vale Stephen Hawking. But I leave you with this quote from him in the hope that we can solve the puzzle he couldn't.

"Asked if the theoretical physicist could explain United States President Donald Trump's meteoric ascendance to power, he said "I can't"."

"He is a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator," he said.

A shout out to you Lowest Common Denominators still out there. Alabama...Pennsylvania....Roll on Mid Terms

I guess he was too smart to figure out there's more to the US than the nutjob lefties in New York and California.
@lilcountrygrl Smart enough to not judge the entire country by the racist, ignorant pieces of crap like Trump and his supporters.

@lilcountrygrl Yep.. Reckon so..Thank goodness its a bunch of individualists like you who made the nation what it is today.. falling behind in just about every demographic.

at a moment when Stephen Hawking just died and a wave of respect for him is moving across social media, I find it morally disgraceful to use this moment and his name to give weight to your political ideas. i am in no way a fan of trump ( I'm not even American) but I find your post opportunistic and inappropriate.

@reflectingmonkey Your comment is noting and your opinion respected. But knowing Hawking's sense of humour, I think he would approve.

It's simply backlash against the political establishment - the major parties. Had Sanders been able to overcome the DNC bias toward Mrs Clinton, he might very well have run & won. Party "insiders" were not who the voters wanted on 2016.

@whowasthatmaskedman but that's the whole point of the electoral college. I doubt very much that Trump will get elected for a second term. But I'll still stand by my belief that allowing Queen Clinton into the white house would have been a disaster.
VeronicaPrincess · 61-69
@lilcountrygrl Sanders supporters truly supported Sanders, while Trump/Clinton "supporters" were merely objecting to the other major parties candidate. A Sanders endorsement might well have paid off for the DNC. It's all conjecture, of course, but it's an entertaining game to play! 😊

@lilcountrygrl Again, on that we can agree. There were no good options there. And I can understand why people wanted someone "different". But thats a sad comment on the broken system that every President has had to face.
Don’t cry too hard when he walks into a second term on the shoulders of you snowflakes constantly doing his campaigning for him 👍🤣
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Yep.. Now he won Alabama and Pennsylvania, hes a shoo in..
hunkalove · 61-69, M
America is and always has been a lowest common denominator.
strongbow · 46-50, M
Guess he should of stuck to things he was really good at...like being a physicist.... he was a little slow at politics.. obviously
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@strongbow True.. But smart people dont go into politics. They can get real jobs without their Daddy giving them $30 Million. Except for the "Stable genuis" you have there for now, of course.
