Have you read "Mansfield Park" by Jane Austen?
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
Yes, I've read all of Jane Austen.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Harmonium1923 Cool! I have read her six major novels, some of her Juvenalia, and some of her letters. Right now I am reading Lady Susan, and I plan to read The Watsons and Sandition later this summer.

@DrWatson She’s brilliant.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
No but I loved the 90s movie.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@DearAmbellina2113 I have not seen it.
I just read a rather low-brow and pedestrian Robin Cook medical horror novel. Affraid I don't read like I used to. Our local library has been closed and there are no bookstores here. So shame on me.
Do they know that fanny means something else outside of the US?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@SirenCalledLuce Probably not!
Peaches · F
Nope, never heard of it?🤔
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Peaches "Fanny" used to be a common nickname for Frances. In Austen's novel, the heroine is named Fanny Price. (Austen tended to choose the names of her characters from people she knew, and her favorite niece was named Fanny Knight.)
