Ever feel more comfortable when you find a tick?

I spent the weekend in the woods, and I have throughly checked myself for ticks at least twice by now, and I haven't found one. I should feel safe, but the lingering anxiety of possibly finding one later at a worse time is still there. It's almost like finding one is more comforting than not finding one, because at least I caught it.

Anyone else go through this, or am I just paranoid?

I have had that experience. As a kid, I spent most of my summer hours outside in pine woods with no insect repellent, which wasn't commonly available. I always found a tick or two, plus thousands of chiggers, but if I didn't find a tick, I stressed until I found at least one.

@exexec Even with repellant, I seem to attract insects, mosquitoes most of all. I could be outside in summer for all of five minutes with no repellant and have like 10 bites on any exposed skin.

@exexec I'm so sorry. I know that pain all too well.
