People ask me if I feel terrible about Putin or want to live away from Russia. No

I have a life style my parents can only dream of. I have a nice home, I work, I go on vacation in other countries, I drive a good car, I can afford to blow money on a good time with my friends and still save.

Putin wants to stay in power? Let him. Our economy is improving year on year, public services is getting better all the time, we have more friends internationally than ever before and nobody is brave enough to threaten us head on. To lead the biggest country on Earth, to not submit to outside pressure to be clone of somewhere else - it takes a strong leader to do all these things. And we’ve got one. I think most of the haters are jealous they don’t have a someone who defends their nation as energetically.

So don’t worry, I’m fine, happy, not worried and not caring what the critics say. 🇷🇺✌🏻

That's what most people in the West do not get - things in Russia improving dramatically over the last 20 years and Putin is genuinially popular among Russians. The reason for that is that Western media only spread propaganda about Russia. They have only two narratives: 1) Putin and Russia are evil and dangerous and 2) things are getting worse and worse and Russia is going to collapse any time now. They have been wrong for 20 years and will most likely continue being wrong for another 20 years.

@Lapochka Tell this to Mugin16. I am making the point that if people are hearing from Russians what Mugin16 is saying, then of course they will look suspiciously at Russia, and even wonder if people there have basic sense. Your poor thread was going so well....

@uncleshawn He’s a different guy. It’s not different to 2 Americans disagreeing over Trump and Biden

If you lived in the USA you'd be a trump lover. Putin is a cold blooded KILLER...he's not strong...he's a demon from hell like trump. Your post sickens me...you are sick. You are selfish. You are as evil as putin. You don't care what he does to others as long as you are happy. One day he'll come for you and there won't be a soul to help you.

@fernie2 Thanks. I needed an example of the blind hysteria I was addressing.

Putin inherited a country in shambles, and turned it to a country that is again respected, and where people live in much better conditions than they did a couple of decades ago. Let dogs bark. Many enemies, much honor.
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@Cierzo Agreed. In German, the expression is "Viel Feind, viel Ehr".
Happy for you Lapochka, here in the U.S., we do not have a view into the lives of our Soviet brothers and sisters (do you still use the world "comrade" and does is it a military term that means you are dedicated to Mother Russia? Just wondering; legit question)

I am very happy to hear that you are living a happy and successful life in your country. I wish we all here in the USA could say the same...
Lapochka · 31-35, F
@MsAlaineEYes Haha I don’t know about the Soviets, that was from before I was born and no we don’t refer to each other as comrade.

I have never met anyone who seemed to hate Russia or be jealous of Russia, in my travels throughout Europe and Asia. But I agree it is good for a country to have a leader who believes in and loves his/her own country, and fights for it. It has become a strange and sick postmodern trend in the West for countries to have a fake ethic of constant self-condemnation.
Lapochka · 31-35, F
@uncleshawn Yes I agree. All countries have mistakes or a past that hurts but to go into a sleep because of the past is foolish. I would say we have done everything right but I’m optimistic. I feel safe and I’m confident I will have money in my life.
uncleshawn · 41-45, M
@Lapochka Do you think Russians are strong because they eat borscht?
uncleshawn · 41-45, M
Serious question for you.... I'm a lifelong student of history -- son of a history professor -- but I don't know a lot about Russian history/culture except for the WWII period. Each country has a kind of cultural persona and ethic. I have read that Russia historically has a paranoid ethos -- that their neighbors hate them and want to destroy them. Is there any truth to this?
Lapochka · 31-35, F
@uncleshawn I think it comes down to this - it’s easier to trust people who share a culture, ethics, maybe religion, certainly a past with you than say someone who’s way of thinking is different and therefore harder to find common ground with.

Certain western countries point accusations at us of crimes they themselves have committed but just give different label to. Everyone is doing what’s in their own best interests.
uncleshawn · 41-45, M
@Lapochka I think it's normal to be afraid of people who eat borscht. ....kidding.
Lapochka · 31-35, F
@uncleshawn Just melt cheese on it and it will sell in Texas
...kidding

Well said, I love Russia
