Do you come here with good intentions, hoping to encourage critical thinking as you've been encouraged here, to be pegged as some kind of instigator?

I feel like every time I come from an unbiased place others have felt attacked, and I want to understand why I've failed at showing, I'm not biased against them.

I don't know if some people are simply defensive because they fear their position is somehow being discredited, but that is not a stance I would support. Discrediting others for no reason.

If I say I'm only interested in "introspective thinking", how is that a threat to any one person, unless they want to damn introspection?

Introspection, people; help me out! 😆🤭😫🤧😭

Oh don’t take anything from here too personally in that regard . It may just be beyond their ability to understand what you are doing . Not that they are lacking cognitively, but where they are in their mind at the moment may prevent it and they misinterpret your intent. I think you’re great ! 😉
Aw, I like you too, Tex. ;) @TexChik

[c=#7700B2]cant come on here and say your opinion or thoughts on things and people not feel like you are attacking them or they get offended and lash out at you. People are just so sensitive now that if you do not think exactly as they do, you are their enemy. [/c]

I agree that some people are too sensitive. Their sense of self-worth is so tied up with their beliefs (religious, political, and otherwise) that they feel personally attacked if anyone challenges those beliefs in any way. I think that's one reason why blocking is so rampant here.

I don't think introspective thinking is a threat at all. I also understand that you aren't trying to discredit people, just encourage critical thinking. It just scares some people, and they need to look at why it scares them so much.

I personally enjoy your posts, and I like it when someone makes me really think. :)

Certainty is comfort. Doubt requires efforts.
@Miram Hrm... Might have to ponder this awhile...

It's happened, and I think the biggest reason is people can't see expression here and words can be easily misunderstood.👀 In life I personally watch the persons body language as well, if not more than the words they're speaking.
*Leans against a building* So, wassup? @Peaches

@SW-User Oh, goodness, Clegane. Heaven forbid someone have an opinion! 🤫

Kidding.

What isn't an opinion is a benign question, as far as I can tell. But that's me. I might be even more ignorant that I'd like to let on.

Ooh, look into that flame, there!

Critical thinking is a dying skill. The discourse is very binary and bovine......debate/discussion by meme and the need to be "right".

So I would agree with your first instinct......people are defensive to any criticism (justified or not) of their position......but saying that, you can garner discussion of you aren't a condescending arsehole, which unfortunately is where I come unstuck lol
