I Want to Learn to Speak Another Language

I want to learn german because I like all the long words and that they have words that describe really specific things like

verschlimmbessern

my family always tell me to learn french or spanish though. they say it will be better.
German is a beautiful language. I am currently learning, and it's not as difficult as I've heard some people say. :)

@lauriethecolourful i think the hardest part is knowing what cases to use for me but i keep trying
@Friend Yeah, the grammar is defiently the hardest part, but you will get it. :)
@lauriethecolourful I am from Germany. Do you want to talk to me in my mother language? I offer you that, because I improved my English skills with that method: Just talking/writing about everyday things in the colloquial language and I found it very helpful. :)
I am from Germany, that´s why I liked to read your post :)
@Friend That´s a good plan. Are you already learning my mother tongue? What would you like to do here? Making sightseeing or studying or something else?
Friend · 22-25
@Michael91142 yes im learning.

i’d like to see the sights germany has and see what it is like compared to my own country

i only heard good stories
@Friend Germany has it´s problems and issues as every other country as well, but I think, you can call my home country as a friendly and helpful one to tourists ;)

Germany has a long history so yes, plenty of sights to see. And learning about our history is a good way to learn and understand more about the way we live and why we live that way.

German is fairly easy to learn if you already know English :)
I´ve found a very long word, too:

Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft ;) ;)

And it means:

Donau Dampfschifffahrt Elektrizitäten Haupt Betriebs Werk Bauunter Beamten Gesellschaft

Danube Steamboat Shipping electricity main control office building related subordinated state employee- Company

It is also a parody to bureaucratic style. Let´s move it in the correct way for the English language, then it means:

Company for subordinated state employees for the main control office for electricity constructions/building for Danube Steamboat shipping.

There are variants possible, of course.

The main idea was to find long words with a possible (maybe absurd) sense. ;)

I don’t know about better. Perhaps more useful, because more people speak French and Spanish than German. But I like German for the reasons you give, though I don’t speak or read it very well.

@MartinII i tried french in school and i really struggled with saying the words and remembering them but german is much easier because its said how its wrote

@Friend Also, Germany is an extremely interesting place to visit. Best of luck! 🙂

In the past I've tried to study Japanese (on my own, fkn difficult, too much), Spanish (Easy and close to my language, Italian but I didn't like it) and French.
I want to study French again, I want to speak French and of course I want to improve my English.

@Friend Hahahhaa most German words are much shorter.
@Mugin16 Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaftskapitän please note the correct spelling @Friend ;)
The human brain is capable of learning and understanding every language.
