How likely is it that Trump refuses to leave office?

Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Ok I’ve been doing some research on what the procedure might be should a sitting President refuse to relinquish the Office of President of the United States of America.

With regard to his failure in acknowledgment that he lost the election due to yet to be ratified results.....its bunkum !
Trump himself doesn’t have to acknowledge anything. The Legislature and the Judiciary do that and that would be enough to see a winning presidential candidate declared the winner.

Having declared a winner he can then be sworn in without having to set foot in The White House.
Trump then becomes a normal citizen as article 2 section 1 of the constitution states that a Presidents term officially ends when the new President has been sworn in.
The previous President then loses all privileges of office and is considered a citizen again.
Thus subject to the rule of law. So if necessary could be evicted

@Picklebobble2 And that is exactly what will happen, in spite of anything Trump or his supporters say or do. Trumps Alamo is that Pence refuses to annouce the official result on January 6. Even if Pence really had an option. Captain Bonespurs AGAIN shot himself in the foot with his phone to Georgia. Any hope Pence has of clinging to a legacy of principle rests on him doing his assigned duty now and following the established will of the people.😷

He can’t legally refuse. And none of the legal challenges have been accepted. I doubt even he wants to be bodily dragged out of the White House or actually arrested for trespassing, but those will be his options after the 21st.

I just saw a post that 140 republicans didn’t approve the electoral vote? What is that about. I saw it about three weeks ago then again today.@bijouxbroussard

@Mindful They don't have to, they're heavily outvoted. Hopefully they constituents remember their petty divisiveness when they are up for reelection.

Let’s hope some of these geniuses are running in swing districts @OggggO

He’s already chained himself to the Presidential White House Boiler in the basement, if that answers your question
tindrummer · M
if necessary federal marshals will escort him out
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
What's he gonna do ?
Barricade himself inside; declare the USA a banana republic and launch nukes at Russia ?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
No, he will go out with his rat-tail between his legs and he won't return. He doesn't have the stamina and he will decline rapidly without the level of attention he acclimated to in the last 4 years.
DarkMoon · 26-30, M
Very unlikely. He knows he has to leave, he just wants to discredit and invalidate the new administration as much as possible.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@DarkMoon The only thing that dimwitted poser is discrediting is the Republican Party
DarkMoon · 26-30, M
@newjaninev2 In a rational mind, sure. But you only need to scroll through here for five minutes to see people are susceptible to his shit.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
He will leave, the democrats are making all of the noise
OggggO · 36-40, M
@nedkelly Sure they are. Meanwhile, over here in America, the congressional GOP is splitting into two camps as one group has announced plans to throw a major tantrum on the 6th and the other realizes just how petulant and pathetic doing so makes them look. There's commercials running on TV urging us to call out governors and congresspeople over the debunked Georgia video. And through it all Trump continues to tweet.

If the election is not certified on the 6th due to the massive voter fraud ... likely he’s not going anywhere .
SW-User
Very likely. But If not, I’m gonna be so disappointed that he didn’t get body slammed and handcuffed by police.
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
Joe Biden will never be president of this country. He “won” by massive voter fraud. This will not stand.
