I Am Facinated By Human Behavior

Earlier today we had an experience on this site when a post appeared announcing the death of a fellow user. The news was announced by her brother. He was going through his sister's phone and posting on social media the news when he came upon this site in her browser's history. It wasn't closed so he was able to alert us.
As expected when it comes to human behavior reaction ran the spectrum, from shock and expressions of grief to expressions of doubt and claims of attention seeking.

It brings up questions and scenarios we usually don't bother to ask ourselves. What would we do if we came upon a loved one's body? Do we immediately sift through the various websites to announce our discovery? Do we wait? How long?
What is our frame of mind when we go online to sites we may or may not have heard of much less visited? Do we explore the unknown when we see sites with names that incite curiosity?

Imagine you've come across the lifeless body of a sibling.

What is your reaction?
I would like to know.
Thank you.

I do not think, I would alert social media, as I am not of that generation that posts online personal information. I would contact family and friends via the telephone, so that I can hear their voice for comfort.

@seeandhear: who would go onto someones social media and say a person died? let alone that person came off rude.

I have no siblings but I do do have two grown children. And there are three lawyers in the family- I would ask them for assistance and guidance in the event of such nature- as they have been through this.

I'd go the Facebook route and that's it. I think my siblings would do the same for me.

That's a hard question to answer .. no one can possibly know for certain until it happens

Yes, and the fact that the family decided to invade the privacy of their loved one!

I am in no position to expound on that. My SW presence is unknown to my family.
