I Got Others Caned At School On Purpose

we had a" teachers pet/Goody two shoes", who over the years must have got a lot of girls in trouble, i am 99.% ( even to this day)certain she was responsiblele for me being topped and tailed for smoking after a final warning.

we had a gym lesson and she was still in the showers, the young PE teacher ( who did not like the punishment handed by the headmaster)advised that a uniform inspection was due within the next hour or two, and to wear full school uniorm including underwear, The goody goody started to get dressed and could not find her knickers, she looked every where and in the end got told just to wear her tights

She failed inspection and had to report to the headmaster, a little later her knickers reappeared in her bag, how strange

i got caught twice smoking and got a caning for both, the third time, even to this day 100% certain was framed as cigareetes fell out of my bag.the head mistress topped and tailed me, like you never touch any since

@dorothyanne Hi, I've never come across the saying. "topped and tailed". I've an idea what it might mean but not certain.

@doublecee Dorothyanne clarifies this in another post to this thread - 3 on each hand and ten across her knickers.

When I was caught smoking, I "just" got six across my knickers each time.

@Lynda70 ten strokes of the cane is extreme; it could almost be classed as cruelty or abuse. Absolutely no need for such a number; six of the best as the ultimate sanction. The purpose of punishment was correction. not to destroy respect or to create a sense of loathing between pupil and teacher.

@Chroniclewriter A lot of the contributions on these threads do show too many teachers and parents had no respect for, and even hated, even their own children; and enjoyed being cruel.

They certainly equated "respect" with "fear", but in a very one-sided relationship based on power and enmity, not authority and affection.

I wonder if this was from couples not being able to help becoming parents with all the responsibilities and burdens; and from teachers bored with repetitively teaching far below their own academic levels, but staying teachers thanks to the good pay and better holidays than in commerce.

That might have been even more so when education was more based on ivory-tower'd rote-learning, and women having far fewer worthwhile career options anyway. It was just a job, largely uninteresting but better than typing, book-keeping or shop-floor sales.
