However irresponsible someone else has been, now it is your turn to take responsibility for your life. Finish your GED before you go running off someplace. Life will be better for you wherever you choose to be if you have a high school diploma on your side.

@Genie If you are a resident of California you can take something called the CHSPE or California High School Proficiency Examination. It is easier than the GED. The diploma is good in California and other states which recognize it (which is most states). You can use it for the army, but the Marines require a GED. You can get a federal government job (like the post office) but if you want to get eventually promoted to an administrative level job you would need a GED. Most colleges and universities accept the CHSPE but not the top ivy league colleges like Harvard or Yale or elite places like Stanford.
The reason I asked if you've taken the actual test is that I know it costs money. I also know there is a pre-test that is normally given before the actual test. (I'm a retired teacher of teens and adults). So...I'm wondering...who did three unusual things: Spent a big pile of money for all those test fees, did not give you a pretest ahead of time to see if you are going to pass, and, worst of all, set you up for repeated failure. No wonder you are frustrated.

@greenmountaingal theres no required pretest where im at and ive voluntarily gone to ged classes and ive done studying on my own i didnt fail every portion to the test just the math but its just being seen as an "oh everybody is bad at math" i had a tutor who's dayjob was a chemist tell me that i'm going to be repeatedly stuck on the same level of learning times tables, because of my inability to do mental math which is something required to pass the 2nd portiom of the test, after years of studying and repeated failures i just began taking the test by chance hoping to pass or that i marked the right multiple choice pattern in order to pass

You are actually doing pretty well considering how hard it's been for you. Please, don't give up. I was terrible at math; I required a special ed teacher and months of tutoring before I could be considered for entrance to the college I wanted to attend. It seems as if a good special ed.teacher could help you. I worked in a school at a state mental hospital for 10 years and over the years I saw a LOT of mentally ill and learning disabled people pass the GED, often after multiple attempts and much tutoring. Please don't run off unless you have some solid plans for your future.
