I Am Christian

I am an Atheist who is sick and tired of christians trying to force their beliefs onto me. They try to drag me and those like me into their delusions by presuming we're really christians just "going through a phase of doubt" and that "god will help you if you just ask him". I'd rather put my faith in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, at least spaghetti is real.

Trying to indoctrinate adults is bad enough but attempting to indoctrinate and frighten children with their beliefs is despicable. If they had a conscience they'd be ashamed of themselves. Instead they try to excuse their actions by claiming they're "doing god's work", just as those who slaughtered elderly women as "witches" were. Any god worth the title could do its own work!
Might start by doing this in "I am an Atheist".

@SomeLikeItHot Do what you like, your imaginary friend can't hurt me but it's obviously harmed you.
@suzie1960 I grieve over your fear to know one that saves.

@SomeLikeItHot You definitely need help. I managed to escape the chains of christianity, maybe you can too if you try.

Well said! Completely agree.
I say to anyone of a religious nature....good luck to you. I am pleased that the concept of God works for you. Im glad you get what you need from it. But....please Keep your good thoughts and good deeds to yourself, otherwise it seems like indoctrination or bragging, both of which seem VERY un-Christian to me.
i have respect for you, show the same level of respect to ME and keep it to yourself.
I would NEVER try to persuade you NOT to follow your chosen religious path, so do NOT try and persuade me that my non-religious way is a wrong way. That encapsualates EVERYTHING that i consider wrong with a religjous belief system of any sort.

Have a nice day.

@MarkA Indoctrination is not "un-christian" it's actually part of the christian belief. They believe they have the right to force their religion onto others because their god told them to. Some even believe in killing those they couldn't or can't convert. See the crusades and witch trials for example.

Bad choice of word then....
Which actually makes it even worse

[c=#7700B2]no matter how many times you shout out how sick you are of Christians and other religious people trying to force their beliefs on people, wont change anything at all.. they are so deluded and brainwashed that they will never stop doing what they are doing.. I wouldn't give them what they want and what they want is attention.. let them waste their lives following a false god and just ignore them... easy as that[/c]
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@PlumBerries Some do but some never wise up to the lies and deception, they carry it through to adulthood. :(
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]well I guess that's their choice.. but you don't do that and cant change others beliefs despite how stupid the beliefs are, so why dwell on it? [/c]

@PlumBerries If I can save just one child from their claws it will be worth it.

I am agnostic atheist.

I had the same strong feelings about Muslims trying to change my mind. The more I learn, the less impact anyone else has over me no matter how they perceive their reality.

But yes, there are times when I feel sad for children being forced to grow up as believers , and kept away from developing the faculties needed to see the flaws. And then those children grow up to continue the show..

Religion or lack of it should be an individual path.

@TheOnlyGayInTheVillage I'm showing christians the same respect they show non-christians. If you think that's disrespectful feel free to ignore me, most christians couldn't care less about Atheists' opinions.

@TheOnlyGayInTheVillage A few overt christians do. It's likely a lot of covert christians do too but they're not readily identifiable.

I am a Christian but I don't ever stuff my beliefs down other people's throats. I think religion and beliefs are people's own private choices and I certainly don't claim to be a good Christian either
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@sarahcupcake That's good. If all christians kept their beliefs to themselves there wouldn't be a problem.
@sarahcupcake, I didn't have a choice, I was born into it by family tradition. I was in the 6th grade, attending church and Sunday school when my break from the catholic religion began. The nun spoke to the class saying, "You are very lucky to be born catholic because anyone who isn't when they die they will all be punished and will all go to hell forever." (All my friends that weren't C's ???) then she went to the closet and took out boxes of candy bars, "Who wants to buy a candy bar, the money goes to the poor people." I told my mom I wasn't going back and didn't. As I grew up I began to see others who were "believers" violate the teachings including priests. I don't label myself as agnostic or atheist but as a non believer. I don't need your god or your religion, that doesn't mean I am evil, to live my life as a good man. Believe what you want I do. (I could expand on this in much more detail but I wont) Have a beautiful day and a beautiful life.

Yes I too was brought up in a Christian family and there was a certain amount of religious education at school which in fairness was mostly Christian based. Speaking personally and looking back it was education. I'm sure the majority of my peers at school follow the trend of being atheist or agnostic (but that is an assumption). My mother went to a convent and she obviously had all that stuff pushed down her throat by the nuns at that time. Fortunately we have all moved on since then. I agree with you too.... there are a lot of lovely good kind caring people out in the world who have no religion. I think the Church of England (which really is the only one I know about) have rather a lot to answer for but of course it's so easy to criticise and I don't want to be a critic. They tell me that Jesus doesn't like me because I am a lesbian. I happen not to agree with that. I may not be amazing or perfect, and in fact I am prolly a crappy Christian but... I am still one. I hope the new week goes well for you too 😀 @softspokenman

I am a Christian. Any religion as any political party, you will come across extremist, I'm sorry you were met with someone who wanted to drag you wherever. That not typical I don't think.
NaturalBeautyQueen · 41-45, F
My beliefs are my own. And I choose not to force them on anybody else. Everybody’s diffeeent. Nobody’s the same.
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
People are crazy. God cannot interfere with our lives.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@ScarletWitch It shouldn't be able to because it doesn't exist. The problem is the agressive, deluded, fools who believe it does.

I did read already two stories about kids who were forced into church today, and Sunday even still hardly did begin. 😂
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@SW-User That's just child abuse in my book. :(
