What's the line between being confident and arrogant?

The two are close. There's a fine line between them. When does someone go from being confident to being arrogant/conceited?

To me arrogant is closer to insecure than confident

@ibuart: I think you have a point.
good question...think it depends on the ego of the one involved..

A truly confident person is supportive and helpful to those around them. An arrogant person reminds you how amazing they are repeatedly in all sorts of ways. 🙄
And those types are the most insecure.

@Peaceful: Right, I would say so too. But, for example, if you ask people to rate their own intelligence, most people are going to say they're fairly intelligent or above average. Is that confidence or arrogance? Is rating your own intelligence (or looks or whatever) even fair?
Peaceful · F
@RileyPancake: I don't know that it's either. As far as intelligence, there are ways to measure that. As far as looks, someone that is secure with who they are May rank themselves higher. I think that's a good thing. It's just our spacesuit anyways, I like what's inside a person. :)

I think confidence is about self-awareness that is accurate but also realistic and modest. It becomes arrogance when it involves looking down on others and conceit when it the self-regard is unrealistic.

the arrogance lifts the nose a lot higher and attention for others is by far less
PoizonApple · 41-45, F
Confident people don't need to talk about it.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
Confident is knowing you're the best you can be; arrogant is the certainty that you are better than others.

hi RileyPancake
Arrogance is obvious you fool!
Confidence is more polite I am sure.
