How much money /hour did you earn at your first job?

How long did you stay?
Tuscan · 70-79, M
2 shillings an hour and I worked there from 1968 until 1994. My wages did increase from £4-00 a week to £600 a week during that time

It was so long ago, I just had to google it....apparently, I was making $3.65/hr because I made tips. The basic minimum wage back then was $4.35/hr
Hardly seems legit.

I'm not sure. I was 10 & delivering newspapers in 1980. Maybe $5/week. 🤷🏻‍♀️
My first 'on the books' job netted me 94 bucks a week. I worked the 'live line' at a chicken processing plant. I would sling the poor critters into shackles to begin their ghastly journey to the supermarkets.

Ten bucks an hour I think? It was actually really good. After that short-lived one I largely worked $6 an hour minimum wage jobs for a couple of years.

I worked Saturday mornings and got about $40 for a few months in high school, probably only about August to February. The boss was a real witch with a b.
