I Love Lotr

Roommate: "If they did a middle earth show these days, they'd probably just ruin it by making it with too many modern themes."
Me: "Yeah, they'd totally have a feisty young woman lead who's just the best at everything."
Roommate: "But that totally goes against the thematic surprise that Eowyn was a competent fighter!"
Me: "Like they did with Tauriel?"
Roommate: "She was cool though."
Me: "And an elf. They're kinda different."
Roommate: "Eh... Arwen wasn't a fighter."
Me: "Arwen wasn't really a character, to be honest. She was just kinda there sometimes."
Roommate: "Okay, I guess that's fair."

@Allelse Yeah, I thought she was a weird addition. Would have been neat in a different story, but not the hobbit.

@FaeLuna I also didn't like how none of the Dwarves in the Hobbit movie looked like Dwarves. They just looked like little humans.

@Allelse I think they were a little on the goofy side of design. Which I guess is fine if they kept it with the kids book vibe of the book, but since they went more LOTR in tone, it didn't work as well.

@FaeLuna But then I wasn't that big on the Hobbit book anyway.
