Having a boy touch his toes really does make him present his backside for the cane perfectly. And it's nice to see short trousers that are exactly that and not flapping around the knees

@JohnStretton Yes shorts are best - sadly schools now mostly the boys are in long trousers

@JohnStretton We were bent over at such an angle that we needed to use our hands to stop toppling over, which meant we couldn't protect or rub our bottoms. We wore short grey shorts - and yes, they were very short, but they always came down for a caning
