I Hate It When

Those people who write "you're welcome" like they did you a favour. Ughh! I know English is like that but why do people have to say it that way? Later, I don't feel like getting a compliment or "congrats" from someone after they reply with yw

Well, those people are fucking annoying.....

I don't know if I'm reading it wrong but almost everyone who writes yw sounds either sarcastic or like they're just being polite to someone they must to those no one asked that from them or like they did me a favour just by answering ._.

I honestly don't know. Sorry :(

You're welcome is merely a politeness.
You are associating it with sarcasm when it may not be intended.

I know but if you have to say you're welcome, can't you say it more politely? I find it impolite if someone makes me feel bad about myself. I haven't asked for a compliment, if you say it of course I'll thank for it, but you aren't obligated to write you're welcome on a way to make someone feel bad about it.
Cliffs should be used for pushing >:)

Maybe...

It depends what part of the world you're from. In some places it's just polite to say you're welcome when someone says thanks. It's the way people are taught to behave!

I know, we use too. I meant on people in here, usually. They always write it somehow I find it more sarcastic than polite.

Maybe it's the way you're reading it rather than the way it's written. You can't get context and tone from messages, so it makes it difficult sometimes!

I guess. Tho when a person who uses smileys usually just respond with 'you're welcome', you'll start questioning if you did something wrong. I think everyone question themselves when someone, who usually use smileys, write just a sentence... It's a kick for social anxiety :s

Me too. I feel like it's almost condescending; like they did you some kind of favor that they went out of their way to say/do.
Melpomene · 26-30, F
Yes, everytime I see that I feel like "pff, fine, no reason for that tone" and then I figure out they're just polite(??).

It is because you are not posh.
Melpomene · 26-30, F
I thought it's because they don't use smileys.
