@traumepertube: I dont see that such rules and attitude deserves to be called parenting, as it does not really help children growing into mature and socially adapted adults.
@Dreammmer: If I child lacks rules, stability and discipline they will not grow into well-adjusted adults. The rules we have are purely to ensure that we aren't allowing our children to laze around the house, expecting us to do everything for them. If there are no expectations set, how do you expect a child to mature?
@Mindy1976: Rules are necessary. My children grew to be responsible and well adjusted. But as a parent you don't want your children to obey rules out of fear of consequences. That is the wrong approach and it conveys weakness.
@Dreammmer: In life, actions have consequences. We all need to be aware of that and think ahead before we do something. Some fear is not a bad thing. For example, society should be slightly fearful of the law, to maintain a safe and orderly society.
@Dreammmer: I am sorry having rules and consequences is the basic foundation of any and all societies .. .. Teaching our children a sound understanding of this is one of the best gifts a parent can give their children .. .. You may think you don't do this with your children but if you closley examine it you will find it is there .. .. The rules may be presented as your expectation and the consequences may be your disappointment, but rules and consequences are there .. .. ..
