Why do dogs look away when youre gonna look at them while youre eating a food

it's a dominance thing. if you look at a dog while it eats, they figure you might be planning to try to take it from them. looking away from you is their way of telling you that they know you're boss and you're not going to share if you don't want to.

It means they regard you as the dominant member of the pack; it's their sign of deference.
